Part ROADMAP, part WAKE-UP CALL, part CAUTIONARY TALE. It should be essential reading before anyone is allowed to coach or to enroll their children in sports. Coach Tremblay shines a light to help you AVOID THE PITFALLS of youth sports. It's obvious he has decades of experience. I wish I had this guide book when my kids were beginning team sports. I am guilty of falling into the "complain and blame" trap, thinking that "the grass is always greener..." As I read the bite-sized lessons, I found myself thinking, "Yes, that's exactly how I felt, that's exactly what I've seen parents do at games!" Coach Tremblay advises that you AND YOUR CHILD will be happier and better-adjusted for life by embracing the ups AND downs of sports. Don't try to smooth the path for your kid (stressful fool's gold); instead, helping prepare your child for the bumps in the path will prepare them not only for better sports results but better life results. I can even apply these teachings to my job. The bite-sized pillars presented in the book remind me of the clear & succinct lessons in the Don't Sweat the Small Stuff series of books. YOUTH SPORTS DONE RIGHT is a book that is exactly that: DONE RIGHT!

As a 20+ year coach and league administrator, I found this book to be spot on. It should be not only read by all parents of young athletes, but then shared and discussed with their children. It will help your child understand their coach's perspective and how to become a higher character team-mate. It will also make you as a parent recognize your behaviors and how it adversely impacts your child and his/her relationship with both you and their coach. Sadly, in some cases young athletes miss out on opportunities solely as result of parent behavior.

Wow, what a great read ! I could not put the book down - read it completely and loved every page. And boy was it a cool surprise to read the section on my son Mitchel. Ryan Tremblay is a great coach and even an even better human being. Thank you Ryan for writing such a wonderful book and including our son in it. Mitch Korb

This book is well written and shows the years of sportsmanship experience of the author. A must read for all parents with kids in sports. Highly recommended!
